#8: HONORING THE EXTREME CONTRAST THAT IS YOU
Welcome to the TRUE NORTH COLLECTIVE PODCAST: SEASON 2! With co-hosts Rachel Bellotti and Jenell Riesner, this is a gathering of un-sugar-coated conversations celebrating the untold stories of everyday people fearlessly finding and living their true north.
In our own search to discover and live from our TRUE NORTH, we have met so many interesting, courageous people from all walks of life, doing all sorts of amazing things to live life in their own unique way. Stories from all over the world. Stories with heart. Stories with grit. Stories with plot twists. Stories going untold - until now. This season, we continue to connect with and celebrate these untold stories of everyday people who are fearlessly living their true north and inspiring each of us to do the same.
Today, we talk with Brooke Conley - Meditation Instructor; Vinyasa, Yin, and Restorative Yoga Teacher; Writer; and Mama. From swimmin’ in the bayous of Louisiana catchin’ baby gaters to guiding the most beautiful healing spaces, we talk about bringing your authentic voice to all that you do, whether you are loud and boisterous, sweet and subtle, or anything in between.
*note: this episode includes explicit language appropriate for those ages 16+
RESOURCES MENTIONED:
- Yosemite Half Dome Hike
- St. Jude Children’s Hospital
- Pema Chodron meditation
- Queer Eye for the Straight Guy
- The Clair’s or Intuitive Senses
- Bree Melanson
- Music from: https://www.jukedeck.com/
3 KEY TAKEAWAYS:
- To choose a path of growth and learning to hold space for yourself is not all butterflies and unicorns. It is brutal, it is hard, it is laying on your mat sobbing, gut-wrenching, not for the faint of heart. It forces you to look inside - the only place where the answers truly lie. And when you look inside, it forces you to see ALL the dirty, dirty shit too. But when you shine a light there, you can see what is holding you back so that you can start to move through it instead of against it.
- Identity and labels and what we expect of people is an interesting game. We put people in boxes to make us “feel better”. And sometimes we put people in boxes that we don’t even realize we are putting them into and it is limiting for everyone. When we expect people to NOT be who they are, or we expect people to be lesser versions of who they can be, we aren’t allowing the full expression of life to exist in the world. And we limit our own possibilities in that reality as well.
- Strength comes in all shapes and sizes. It can look quiet or it can look loud. It can show up solidly or as a sliver of light. It can be present in contrasting experiences and in the flowing experiences. There are infinite expressions of strength, and it’s a muscle you can strengthen by paying attention to it and choosing it. Allow yourself to trust in your unique way of strength.

#7: NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE RESILIENCE OF YOUR BODY + POTENTIAL OF YOUR DREAM LIFE.
Today, we talk with Anastasia Munoz, Founder and Artistic + Executive Director of Arts Mission - an artist co-working and education center. We get into the necessity of art for the experience of it versus the end result, the reality of how resilient our bodies are even after we put them through hell to look certain ways, and what you do when you find yourself living your dream life and yet you still wake up on the wrong side of the bed sometimes!
*note: this episode includes explicit language appropriate for those ages 16+
RESOURCES MENTIONED:

- Gold In September
- Loneliness, the silent killer article
- Steam Theory Brewing - Chris Harrison’s Bar in Dallas, TX
- BodyThoughts
- King Spa
- Music from: https://www.jukedeck.com/
3 KEY TAKEAWAYS:
- Power of speaking what you want into existence. When you are clear and ready, it will happen and it will happen fast, so be ready for what you wish for! And once you allow this to happen, you will start to live your life BIGGER - thinking bigger, dreaming bigger, being bigger than you ever thought was imaginable.
- Being in process is actually where the magic is. Not when you get to the finish line because the finish line is always moving - as it should be. Being in process is allowing yourself to be connected to yourself, to breath, to inspiration, to your body, to something bigger than yourself. This is where the real stuff happens and unlocks bigger and bigger milestones along the unfolding of this process.
- Our bodies are amazing, truly. And they are super weird! They change based on what we do to them and what they are meant to do. They become so different over the course of a life - almost unrecognizable at times and yet necessary in response to what we expect them to do. It can be so easy to villainize our bodies even though they simply responding to the experiences we are choosing to engage with (food, people, jobs, etc). And it really is UNREAL what the body is capable of - even when we hate on our bodies and do things that could destroy it (for whatever our reasons), it can still bounce back and do things that will blow your mind.

- [8:00] Hiking the 7 or 9 sisters in San Luis Obispo

#6: A NEW FORMULA FOR MAKING FRIENDS + EXPERIENCING MORE DEPTH IN LIFE...AS AN ADULT
Today, we talk with two of the ladies from our Ragnar Trail team. Jesse Gitter, our lovely minimalist from season 1 and Clare Geiger, a former co-worker, friend, and Paralegal, Director of Plan Development. We chat highs and lows from our recent Ragnar experience in Snowmass, CO, the wonderful world of hair removal, realities of socializing + drinking as an adult, being varying levels of introverts, making mistakes, figuring out how to live meaningful lives in our own unique ways.
*note: this episode includes explicit language appropriate for those ages 16+
**note: apologies in advance for Rachel’s LOUD-ass laughter ;)
RESOURCES MENTIONED:
- Sally Hansen Wax Strips
- Ragnar Trail Relay
- This Strange Rock
- The Barkley Marathon
- Hang boards
- Free Solo Documentary
- Meetups
- Music from: https://www.jukedeck.com/
3 KEY TAKEAWAYS:
- If you haven’t yet, give team athletic events a try. They aren’t just a space for practicing being YOUR strongest/fastest/best, but actually they can be a beautiful space to get out of your comfort zone and find meaning, connection and deep adult relationships with really cool people who also want to challenge themselves and explore..
- A whole life can open up for you if you invite yourself to replace even a few alcoholic drinks (or vices) and nights out at the bars. Redefining what fun, connection, and socializing can be for you can reduce FOMO so you aren’t lured back into a life that truly lacks new experiences and a level of depth that actually DOES exist in the world if you are open to it.
- Allow yourself to meet the people that show up in your life and learn to love the community around you as it is, for what it is - this can give you a new appreciation for the similarities that actually exist between humans, the impact of almost anyone who crosses your path, and the depth of friendships that can grow and last a lifetime in the most unlikely places if we are open to who is there vs only seeking out what is familiar and comfortable. Friendships are the result of an openness to being curious to connect and that can happen with literally anyone at any time if you have the intention to do so.

- [9:30] Introducing Jesse + Clare!

Today, we chat with Joshua Robbins, a Kabbalistic Astrologer helping clients lead happier and more fulfilling lives. We dive into what it means to be a Kabbalistic Astrologer, how to discern when visiting a reader or healer, when to know if you are operating from your ego or your light/soul, and we play with the idea that we can change the world by changing our conscious reality - ultimately learning how to shine our light more often on all things and beings to illuminate more light in the world.
*note: this episode includes explicit language appropriate for those ages 16+
RESOURCES MENTIONED:
- Sense8 (Netflex series)
- astralabove.com
- Music from: https://www.jukedeck.com/
3 KEY TAKEAWAYS:
- Consciousness creates your reality. Shifting how you think and how you speak will change what you see, what you experience, and transform the seed or the DNA of your reality.
- In Kabbalah we are invited to consider that the soul comes here into a human body to manifest ALL the light that we have right here, right now. We are called to take all the light that’s within us, rooted in authenticity and regardless of what anyone else thinks, and shine all that light out into the world, in service of the world. And by shining that light on all beings and aspects of the world no matter what they are, we illuminate more and more light in others and in the world.
- We all have many thoughts and inner urges or voices guiding us, yet how do we know which to choose to listen to? The voice that tells you to share and shine your light - the voice that asserts boundaries that respect our own light and the light in others - this is the voice of your soul. The voice that tells you to fight back or run away - to hurt others or hurt self to make another feel better - this is the voice of the ego and creates more chaos. The spiritual journey allows you to practice turning down the ego and turning up the voice of love, your light, or your soul. And remembering that there is also light in the fall into ego. Sometimes in order to learn when we are in ego, we have to experience it, so when it happens, allow it to happen and learn and grow and keep practicing so you can be wiser for next time.

- Creating new products is hard. Period. It’s not for the faint of heart. Especially products with some controversy, misinformation, and confusion around them. Having a good support system and an outlet (like going to the gym) is paramount to staying sane.
- Embracing, being open, and allowing things that you weren’t expecting and cannot control can push you into new directions that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. #3: SEEKING ANSWERS THROUGH MEDITATION AND WHY SPIRITUAL WELLNESS MIGHT BE THE KEY TO YOUR NEXT "UNLOCK"
Today, we chat with Chelsey Charbeneau, meditation teacher and yoga therapist. She is by no means your typical yoga/meditation teacher. She was a successful career women in finance, who used to hate “those types of people”. After years of grinding in the corporate world, she found that hated herself, and choose to do the exact opposite of what she was doing. She thought, “Either I was going to go crazy, or I had to do something crazy."
We are diving into the world of spiritual wellness and learning how to listen for our hearts, while sharing our appreciation for select four letter words. We take time to meditate together and learn how meditation can be used as a tool to learn more about ourselves. We invite you to meditate with us and learn why meditation may be what your wellness routine is missing.
*note: this episode includes explicit language appropriate for those ages 16+
RESOURCES MENTIONED:
Music from: https://www.jukedeck.com/
3 KEY TAKEAWAYS:
- We all have that inner all-knowing feeling. If we listen to our body and heart we know our own truth and that can change our lives. Most of what our minds say isn’t truth. Your mind might not know, but your heart will. The head is very strong, but the heart never lies.
- Moments that can change your perspective don’t have to be some BIG experiences like getting sick or getting in an accident. You can find your “unlock” anywhere, at anytime, if you are open to being there and hearing it.
- How to use meditation as a tool to get to know yourself better. It is about giving yourself the space to get comfortable with the space. Hear your own experiences moment to moment. Meditation isn’t a magic eight ball, a physic, you won’t be levitating after a five-minute session. It is about using everything you learn as an experience for growth, learning, or a higher purpose. Everything and anything can be meditation.

- How can we be more present in the moment by using the concept of intention setting in partnership with goal setting. Thinking about how we want to feel vs. what we want to accomplish.
- Why is making friends as an adult so weird and what can we do about it? We can show up as ourselves, being a beacon for people that will resonate with our weirdness. Don’t force it, but be fearless in your search. There is no shame in wanting friends. Our ancestors lived in tribes, we can’t only tap on one person to be our everything.
- Just like in life, relationships have a life cycle. Some people will come into your life for a season, as reason, or a lifetime. Don’t get too caught up in internal expectations. Let time dictate which bucket they fall into.

#12: BEING OPEN: WE HAVE A CHOICE IN THE LIFE WE ARE CHOOSING TO LIVE
We are Rachel Bellotti and Jenell Riesner, co-hosts of the TRUE NORTH COLLECTIVE PODCAST, exploring everyday people fearlessly finding and living their true north.
We have met so many interesting people from all walks of life living fascinating and inspiring lives whose stories aren’t being told. This season we are excited to connect with and celebrate the untold stories of everyday people from Sheboygan, WI, to Santa Monica, CA, who are living their true north and inspiring each of us to do the same.
Today we’re welcoming Andrea Foster, a dear friend, fitness pal, successful hospitality executive, and general badass. We talk using fitness to discover and connect with who we are, soliciting feedback to understand our unique specialness, retiring should’s and the busy life, and leaving the world better than how we found it by taking care of self first so we can take care of others.

3 KEY TAKEAWAYS:
- Slowing down enough to really consider what something means to you and what you think and feel in this moment, with this experience allows you to start to take responsibility for your life and stop outsourcing your ideas and actions to the outside world.
- Making better choices starts by making small changes to the stuff you are already doing each day. We don’t eat an elephant all in one bite, we eat an elephant one bite at a time. Similarly, making better choices is done one day at a time, one moment at at time. Choose to make the better choice for YOU as often as you can. And note, the better choice for you is up for you to decide.
- We have to let go of the person we believe we are to become the person we were meant to be.

#11: TRANSITIONING + CLIFFDIVING: SMALL STEPS THAT LEAD TO BIG CHANGE
We are Rachel Bellotti and Jenell Riesner, co-hosts of the TRUE NORTH COLLECTIVE PODCAST, exploring everyday people fearlessly finding and living their true north.
We have met so many interesting people from all walks of life living fascinating and inspiring lives whose stories aren’t being told. This season we are excited to connect with and celebrate the untold stories of everyday people from Sheboygan, WI, to Santa Monica, CA, who are living their true north and inspiring each of us to do the same.
Today, we welcome Anya DeNiro, author, copywriter, and parent, who recently transitioned her identity to female in her 40s. We cover a ton of ground in this powerful and bold episode that finds the universality in the human experience of finding oneself and what one wants and then actually going about making it a reality. It is real, honest, raw, and incredibly relatable. As promised, get ready for some un-sugar-coated conversation!

3 KEY TAKEAWAYS:
- Through parenthood, there is an opportunity to see how you want to be treating yourself in seeing the care and way that you treat your kids. They are precious and you want the world for them - why don’t we hold ourselves in that same space? And ultimately, the best way to take care of these little miracles is to actually take care of yourself.
- Taking as much time as you need is ok. And small steps can make BIG change feel more doable. Small steps become an anchor during times of transition so that you can get used to more bite sizes aspects of the change until you are ready to own the bigger change.
- Many times what we want includes layers of misconception around the person we think we need to be to have what we want. And in this misconception, there is a mismatch with who we think we are vs who we think we need to be. When we allow ourselves to see these mismatches as the misconceptions that they are, we can start to unpack them and understand ourselves and choose to be who we truly want to be AND go after what we want.
